What to Expect During a DOT SAP Evaluation in Georgia
A DOT SAP evaluation in South Carolina begins with a confidential clinical assessment conducted by a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) listed with the Department of Transportation. During the evaluation, the SAP reviews the details of the DOT drug or alcohol violation, explores relevant substance use history, and assesses factors related to safety-sensitive job performance. Based on this assessment, individualized recommendations for required education or treatment are provided in accordance with FMCSA regulations.

The SAP fee at Three Corners Counseling is a flat $400 and includes both the initial SAP evaluation and follow-up SAP evaluation. Educational courses are separate from the SAP fee and typically range from $60–$160. Any recommendations and associated costs are discussed with you before you begin so there are no surprises. Eligible clients may choose to pay over time through Affirm, Klarna, or Afterpay at checkout. How long does the Return-to-Duty (RTD) process take?
The timeline varies for each driver. Some individuals complete the SAP process in a matter of days, while others may take weeks or longer depending on how quickly they complete any required education and/or treatment recommendations. Once all SAP requirements have been successfully completed, the follow-up SAP evaluation and FMCSA Clearinghouse updates can typically be completed promptly.
