DOT SAP Evaluations for CDL Drivers Across Georgia
DOT SAP evaluations are available statewide for drivers based in Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah, Columbus, Macon, Athens, Valdosta, and surrounding rural areas. Because the SAP evaluation process is conducted virtually, Georgia drivers do not need to travel to a physical office to begin or complete the required steps in the DOT return-to-duty process.
Georgia DOT Substance Abuse Professional
DOT SAP evaluations for individuals in Georgia are provided by David Newson, MS, CAADC, SAP. David holds the Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor credential in Georgia, credential number C751, and is qualified to provide evaluations under applicable Department of Transportation requirements.
Working with a provider who holds a Georgia substance-use credential gives drivers a clear way to verify the professional qualifications behind the evaluation while still completing appointments entirely online.
Preparing for Your Georgia DOT SAP Evaluation
Before your initial appointment, make sure you can access your FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse account and have completed the process of designating David Newson as your Substance Abuse Professional.

It is also helpful to have:
-
Information about the DOT violation
-
The date and type of test involved
-
Contact information for your employer, prospective employer, or C/TPA, when applicable
-
A photo ID
-
A private location with reliable internet access

You do not need to have every detail available before scheduling. Questions about the Clearinghouse or the next step can be addressed before the evaluation.
$400 SAP Fee for Georgia Drivers
The SAP fee at Three Corners Counseling is a flat $400 and includes both the initial SAP evaluation and follow-up SAP evaluation. Educational courses are separate from the SAP fee and typically range from $60–$160. Any recommendations and associated costs are discussed with you before you begin so there are no surprises. Eligible clients may choose to pay over time through Affirm, Klarna, or Afterpay at checkout. Payment plans may also be available directly through Three Corners Counseling.
How long does the Return-to-Duty (RTD) process take?
The timeline varies for each driver. Some individuals complete the SAP process in a matter of days, while others may take weeks or longer depending on how quickly they complete any required education and/or treatment recommendations. Once all SAP requirements have been successfully completed, the follow-up SAP evaluation and FMCSA Clearinghouse updates can typically be completed promptly.
After the Initial SAP Evaluation
Following the initial evaluation, you will receive an individualized recommendation for education, treatment, or another appropriate service. The recommendation depends on the circumstances of the violation and the information reviewed during the clinical assessment.

Once the recommendation has been completed and verified, a follow-up SAP evaluation is conducted. If you are determined to have successfully complied with the recommendation, the appropriate status is entered into the FMCSA Clearinghouse so you may proceed to the return-to-duty testing step.
