Structured Outpatient Program (SOP)
Virtual Recovery Support Across North Carolina

Finding the right level of support in early recovery can feel overwhelming. If you need structure, accountability, and a therapist-led recovery program without entering a treatment center, my Structured Outpatient Program (SOP) provides the perfect middle ground.

This virtual program offers the consistency of an outpatient group with the flexibility and privacy of telehealth. Whether you’re managing cravings, rebuilding routines, or preventing relapse, the SOP gives you the support you need, anywhere in North Carolina.

Who Is David Newson?

I’m David Newson, a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), and the founder of Three Corners Counseling. Before anything else, I'm a person in long-term recovery with lived experience. I know firsthand what it feels like to rebuild your life, find stability, and learn how to manage the emotions and challenges that come with early sobriety.

Over the years, I’ve worked in nearly every level of addiction treatment, including:

  • Medical Detox

  • Residential Treatment

  • Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)

  • Standard Outpatient Counseling

These experiences have shaped how I practice today: with empathy, honesty, and a deep understanding of what recovery truly requires, both clinically and emotionally.

Three Corners Counseling isn’t a corporate treatment chain. There’s no big company behind me, no assembly-line approach, and no pressure to be anything you’re not. This is a small, independently owned practice run by someone who genuinely cares, listens, and understands the recovery journey from both sides.

When you join my Structured Outpatient Program (SOP), you’re entering a space built on:

- Respect
- Compassion
- Real-world understanding
- Authentic connection
- Personalized support

My goal is simple: to help you feel safe, supported, and empowered as you build the next chapter of your life.

A Virtual Outpatient Recovery Program for Adults in North Carolina

The SOP is an 8-week, cohort-based outpatient recovery program designed for adults who want deeper support than weekly therapy but may not need a traditional Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

I provide a structured, therapist-led environment where clients learn coping skills, build accountability, connect with peers, and strengthen long-term recovery, all through HIPAA-compliant telehealth.

This program serves clients throughout North Carolina. Learn more about SOP in:

Program Pricing

Program Rate:
$120 per treatment day (3 hours of structured recovery).

Clients receive three hours of intensive recovery counseling for half the cost of what three individual therapy sessions would normally cost. This rate is intentionally designed to make high-quality treatment accessible without corporate-level pricing.

Billing Schedule

Clients are billed weekly at a rate of $360 per week (three SOP treatment days).
Payment is due before the first scheduled session of each week.

Accepted Payment Methods

• Credit card
• Debit card
• ACH / bank transfer

Superbills

Superbills are provided by request at the end of each treatment week for clients who wish to pursue out-of-network reimbursement. Many insurance plans reimburse 20–80 percent of out-of-network behavioral health services depending on the client’s specific benefits and deductible. Reimbursement is not guaranteed, but many clients receive a meaningful portion of their weekly SOP cost back after submitting superbills.

Each superbill includes:
• Diagnosis
• CPT codes
• Dates of service
• The rate charged and amount paid
• Provider credentials (NPI, EIN, license)

Missed Sessions

The weekly SOP rate reserves a client’s spot and is not prorated or reduced for missed days.
No refunds are issued for missed or skipped sessions.

Late Payments

If payment is not received by the beginning of the week, the client may not attend sessions until the balance is paid.

Program Duration

8-week structured program
3 treatment days per week
3 hours per treatment day
24 total treatment days

Total Program Cost

The full 8-week SOP program includes 24 treatment days.
At $120 per day, the total cost of the entire program is approximately $2,880.
Clients are billed weekly at $360 to keep payments predictable and manageable.

What to Expect When You Start the Structured Outpatient Program

Starting a recovery program can feel overwhelming, so I make the process simple and predictable. Here’s exactly what happens from the moment you reach out until your first week in the program.

Step 1 - Short Consultation Call

We’ll start with a quick 15–20 minute call to see if the SOP is a good fit for your goals, schedule, and support needs. You can ask me anything. This call is low-pressure, straightforward, and focused on making sure you feel comfortable.

Step 2 - Clinical Intake & Biopsychosocial Assessment

Before beginning treatment, we’ll complete a full clinical intake (biopsychosocial).
This helps me understand:
• Your substance use history
• Mental health symptoms
• Strengths and supports
• Stressors and triggers
• Medical concerns
• Treatment goals

This assessment guides your individualized treatment plan for the SOP.

Step 3 - Intake Forms + Program Agreements

You’ll complete your digital intake packet, including:
• HIPAA and consent
• Program expectations
• Payment policy
• Emergency contact
• Releases (if needed)

Everything is online and easy to complete.

Step 4 - Weekly Payment Setup

The SOP is billed weekly at $360 per week.

Accepted methods:
• Credit or debit card
• ACH bank transfer
• Cash (optional)

Superbills are available weekly by request. Many clients receive 20–80 percent reimbursement depending on their insurance plan.

Step 5 - Quick Orientation

A 10–15 minute orientation to walk through:
• Group expectations
• Confidentiality
• Zoom setup
• What the first week looks like

You’ll feel prepared and supported before beginning.

Step 6 - Your First SOP Week

You’ll attend sessions on:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Each session is 3 hours and includes:
• Group check-in
• Skills training
• Recovery tools
• Reflection and accountability

The environment is supportive, honest, and structured.

Step 7 - Weekly Check-Ins

Every week we’ll do a short check-in to review progress, refine goals, and ensure you’re supported both clinically and personally.

Step 8 - Program Completion + Aftercare

At the end of the 8-week program, we’ll build a personalized aftercare plan, which may include:
• Ongoing therapy
• Relapse prevention
• Support groups
• Continued recovery strategies

You leave the SOP with clarity and next steps.
